The National Association of Container Distributors (NACD) is an association that works to be a market connection between Manufacturer/ producer of packaging components and branded product users. By providing effective, ethical and efficient channels of engagement, the NACD strives to be the preferred resource to marketers in a variety of industries for value added packaging solutions.

At a recent ceremony awarding packaging excellence, Empire EMCO was honored with the NACD Gold Award for the Best Use of Custom Packaging for its work on the heritage Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell compound products.
For more than 75 years, Turtle Wax has developed products to protect and restore cars As a family owned company calling Chicago home for generations, Turtle Wax creates innovative production lines to meet the ever changing needs of both car consumers and the automotive industry, and setting the highest standards in car care.

When it came time to develop new packaging for the Turtle Wax compound brand, they turned to the knowledgeable experts at Empire EMCO. The team designed both the custom injection jar and the closure with features that provide neatly nested products on the store shelves. In addition, the closure’s scalloped design not only makes the package easy to grip but was engineered to house the sponge applicator under the closure. A disc fits inside the interior threads and separates the sponge from the product in shipment. Execution of the closure/sponge/disc assembly at the injection press saves time and added handling on the filling lines which provides a valued service to Turtle Wax.
